The simple answer is, no, you can't do that. The reason is
because in the 5250 world the delete key is not an activation key. Yes,
5250 emulators may allow you to change the default behavior of the delete
key but I would not advise this because it is a global change which
affects all screens used in that 5250 session. The alternative is that
you convert to using a browser for the interactive end of your 5250
applications. This can allow you to condition when the delete key uses
its default behavior and when it uses the record delete behavior. I have
many applications that do this now.
