I am only doing a subset of the table. . .

from edi856wk
-->> where prcflg = ' '
-->> and elcust in (4106,21710,22948)
order by edocn,elline
for update of prcflg;

You are putting a lock on every record and maybe only processing a few.

So are you saying the entire table is locked with this solution?
-OR-
since there is a where clause are only those records being locked?


I do want to update each selected record to reflect the status.
