Most of the time when I have seen similar errors on file operations is that
somewhere along the line, some parameters do not match and have written
over storage in the internal structures RPG uses. When we switched from
compiling to V5R4 to V6R1 in particular, the parameters are passed just a
little bit differently, but exposed a coupld of places where we had
mismatched parameters (actually, using one that was not passed because of
checking the wrong parm #). They raised their heads in the weirdest ways --
one of which was seemingly normal file operation blew up for the strangest
reasons (in another module in the same executable, no less).

Yeah, I know it is way old, but there was never a problem like this before.
The program was doing a Chain to a keyed file using database fields in the
key list.

Any ideas?
The error appears to be in QRNXIE.
