I supposed you could write some SQL functions to back track but I think that would be as much work as joining in a DATE_DIM for what you want.

With this code you can create your own DATE_DIM and then add an index over any reasonable column then you can get want you want.

This calendar contains adjustments to were week 53 falls into what year for our accounting purposes. You will have to make adjustments to this if you don't like that option.
