I just realized my subject line was a bit of a misnomer. I started out
with that line of questioning, but the post evolved as I was writing it.

I'm either having a brain fart or have not dealt with this before.program,
I just started working on an RPGLE source, EXAMPLE1. Currently, there
exists both a *MODULE object and a *PGM object by this name, and the *PGM
object references the *MODULE object. The program has only one module.
Are there any reasons I can't think of at the moment why a program with
only one module by the same name needs to be compiled via CRTRPGMOD and
CRTPGM, instead of just CRTBNDRPG?
I wondered whether the *MODULE object could be used in some other
but it does not have "NOMAIN" in the H spec, so I think that eliminates--
that possibility, correct?
