IDK about 'code' examples but the Godfather of Journalling would be Larry
Youngren of IBM. He regularly speaks at COMMON, writes articles for
iprodeveloper, redbooks, etc.
Things to consider include
- Whether to journal file open/closes
- Keep before/after images in your journal?
- For "Minimize entry specific data (MINENTDTA)" on CRTJRN which option
should I pick?
- How often to do commit cycles? For example, committing after 1 on
screen transaction (which may update a number of 'child' files) may make
sense. But do you really want to a "update 2billionrowtable ..." without
committing a few times in there?
and the list goes on.
