Re: SCP Issue (Can't open /dev/tty)
Thanks Scott, the "I wonder why" is exactly the question I've been
asking
myself haha.
I decided to start from square one and recreate everything
(public/private
key pair).
I used the following page as a guide
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1012710 and used the
following command to create it without a passphrase
ssh-keygen -t rsa -N ""
I then FTP'd the public key to the admin of the remote server
(the page says FTP in binary mode, but I didn't do anything special.
Just
a get command to place on my PC and email as an attachment).
It is possible your key is being corrupted either as you transfer it to
e-mail or by the e-mail agent/server.
When I've had troubles with ssh connections, I generally try connecting
with PuTTY (or a similar program) using the same keys.
You already have the public key downloaded to your PC, now transfer the
private key as well.
Then within PuTTY, try:
ssh -vvv -i {path to your id_rsa keys} {user}@{remotehost}
(Disclaimer: In production I'm using sftp with an ssh-configuration file
which specifies my UserKnownHostsFile and IdentityFile for the connection.
I specify the config file using the '-F' switch on the ssh connection.
Then I script the copy using '-b' to specify the script file. Since I do
this a little different, your results may vary.)
The point is you want to verify whether the remote host has correctly got
your key.
