There are much better ways of doing this. If you submit a job, you have
waiting while it starts, a very slow process. The solution or at the
solution that I use is to use pre-start jobs and spawn a job. The socket
descriptor is passed to the socket worker and the worker starts
instantaneously because the system has already started jobs and the system
manages starting new jobs.

Yes.
I have a program that is going to receive data via a socket.
To allow for multiple client connections, I was planning to use the
examples in Scotts' Socket Tutorial.
When reviewing the code for the socket worker program, I noticed that the
TakeDescriptor function had no provision for a timeout.
I was searching for references to this and found an old thread from 2010
where Scott mentioned using the SendMsg and RecvMsg functions instead of
Give/Take Descriptor.

In what context are you planning on using them? Are you trying to start
new
socket workers?

Does anyone have an example to share as to how I would code them?
Also, what would I need to to to setup a timeout so that I did not wait
forever?

TIA
