Name as to be null terminated string.

I have a simpler solution if you are interested. I have a service program I
have used for years to wrapper all the Unix api's so it takes care of all
the housekeeping to call the API's. It includes a function to read
directories and get file names from the directory. Let me know and I will
send to you.

I am trying to use opendir API and all the examples I see all have a hard
coded path and I have tried many ways to use a variable constructed path
name with no luck.

Example:

eval dir = opendir('/XXX/PAYROLL/020-MEMPHIS DEV/50113'); Works

When I try constructing a path name from a file I created of sub folders I
want to read the dir always returns null?

eval dir = opendir('/XXX/PAYROLL/' + pathout)); returns null where
pathout is sub folder name from the file.
