I have a stream file, that appears to be CCSID 819.
This is a EDI file, and I am having trouble with the end of record
character. In this case, when I look at the file in EDTF, the end of
line char is x'0A'...

FWiW: I had long avoided Display File (DSPF) and Edit File (EDTF) commands because at one time, as I recall, the conversion from ASCII was always effected into the [Default] Job CCSID where only an EBCDIC CCSID is supported; notably, the error msg CPFB618 "Conversion between CCSID &1 and the job's CCSID is not supported" is a possible outcome according to "Error messages" <http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_71/cl/edtf.htm>. I would only ever use the Dump Object (DMP) command and view the QPSRVDMP spooled output; the hex code points are presented such that there is never any conversions of the data.
