"First of all, you would have to forget anything, you've learned programming RPG!!!"
Maybe you said that in good fun, but I completely disagree. Yes, it is a lot different than RPG, but that doesn't mean that the knowledge you have in RPG won't help you make mental connections with the new syntax and terminology. "Oh, a method is like a procedure." Even if the comparison isn't 100% accurate, it leverages knowledge you already have. Sure, there will be entirely new concepts, but knowing RPG (or any language probably) will help you learn another language.
That said, there is the book people have mentioned (which I also own), but there are other great online learning tools as well. You should check out iTunesU for any open courseware. I learned Objective-C using an open courseware course from Stanford. It's an amazing resource.
And don't discount classes at a local university/college/tech or online. Comparing the local courses I took to learn java for fun to the open courseware to learn Objective-C, one thing I'll say about open courseware - not having an instructor to talk to is rough, but you get by.
