Exactly my point, Brad - we're on the same wavelength - the proprietary
nature of the XLSX (Office Open XML specification) did scare me off at
first - and I ended up trying to use the 2003 Spreadsheet XML that
several (Job Paris, Paul Tuohy, etc.) have presented - that turned out
to be untenable here, due to size, for one thing. So I went back to look
at the structure of XLSX and found it not completely opaque!
Speaking for myself, I'm not interested only in XML - that's a minor detail.
My interest in things other than CGIDEV2 is somewhat theoretical right
now. At the same time, I want to consider the needs of different kinds
of projects - JSON vs XML vs HTML vs ??? - hey, maybe one could put
together something for UIM! A code generator for UIM panel groups that
uses one of these approaches!

I must have missed that. Seems rather proprietary, but still can be done
fairly simply with the template applications mentioned.
