Re: What would you do without RPG?

While it is true that some companies really just use the database as a
sophisticated ISAM system and therefore have no need for DBA, that is far
too broad a brush. I work with many companies that exploit the database
just as much as any Oracle or SQL server shop. But DB2 on IBM i doesn't
need anywhere near the level of daily love and attention to keep it
functioning properly. I have worked with several clients who have the
equivalent of a part-time DBA on the IBM i side and 2 or 3 on their SQL
server side for a comparable level of transactions. Similar situation in
shops that use Oracle as well as DB2 on i.
