Years ago I tried to learn SAP just so I could cash in on those big
consulting fees. They were, I think, 3-5 times a basic RPG consulting rate.
Unfortunately those SAP consultants didn't want to "share" their knowledge.
Fortunately I found a legitimate gig.

Only if you don't count the additional staffing and the fact that
consultancy requirements will be much higher.

There's a reason why SAP employees will agree privately that it runs best on
an IBM i but will never say that to a client because they lose too much
consulting revenue.

Thank goodness that IBM finally have an SAP centre of excellence in
Rochester to help spread the word.

Why on earth are they moving to AIX when SAP runs better on i? Just
interested.

If IBM were to abandon support for RPG, would you abandon IBM i?
Does RPG mean that much to you?

It would not be at all my decision to make.

Long range the corporation is planning to move most of our
applications from various RPG-based packages running on IBM i on
Power to SAP running on AIX on Power.

So my guess is that if IBM were to announce the discontinuance of
RPG, that process would be accelerated.
