I am trying the new free format D specs, and am having a problem. Here is a snip of my code:
d****** pmcncl 1
dcl-s tryit char(1);
d saveco s 3 0
Based on what I've read and what I've seen, this should compile. I think I can intermix free and fixed format D specs, and not need the FREE/END-FREE. Is that correct? When I compile this, I get an RNF0257 error on the free format D spec line. Here is a copy of the compile listing:
49 d****** pmcncl 1
50
51 dcl-s tryit char(1);
=====>a
RNF0257 30 a 005100 Form-Type entry for main procedure not valid or out of
sequence.
52
I am thinking OS/400 is not at the correct release. Can anyone tell me why this will not compile? Can someone tell me how to find out if the correct version of the compiler is installed on the machine I use? The dcl-s starts at column 9.
Thank you,
Doug
