It has been quite a while now that you can index on an expression - not sure if this expression is valid, though.

I tried this on a copy of QIWS/QCUSTCDT -

create index dp2test/custdatix on dp2test/qcustcdt (rrn(qcustcdt))

The index has 12 entries, which is correct.

We are at 7.1 TR6 (IIRC).

I think this support came out in 6.1

Vern

So I'm not sure about this one.

If you are going to use RRN() within an SQL statement to identify the
max(rrn()), you should consider an SQL index using RRN as your
derived key.

create index lib.index on lib.your_table(rrn(your_table))

this will prevent a table-scan when determining last RRN read

When did that support come available... Or did it? AFaIK the
capability does not exist.
