I learned RPG from a Programmed Instruction Course from IBM back in the early 1970s. The IBM salesman handed me 3 books and said "Start at the beginning and do a page at a time and you will do just fine. Whatever you do, don't look ahead; you won't understand it and it will frighten you and then when you get to that section you won't be able to do it."

What surprised me was that I never did get to the hard part. I knew I couldn't write complicated programs but I could always do the next page.

That may be the situation here. The team may have to take the journey together, one day at a time.

... if I would recommend the same, others did, my post would have been obvious! Making only partial use of procedures, does have nearly no benefit. Go the road to the end, or stay, where you are!
