Try to put your comments at the end of your source, maybe with a /*
check doc at the bottom */ line at the beginning . That way, if your
comments are the ones giving errors they won't impact on your SQL
statements...
BTW, Most of the time I use a /* */ pair when writing "comment" blocks
(old habits die hard :-) ) . Just curious, have you tried to use this
kind of delimiter?

with... I did try to wrap the whole
comment block thing in /* ... */, so it wouldn't have to deal
all the dashes, but that didn't work either.
