I always use INZ(*HIVAL) on the array so that the unused elements will sort
to the end of the array...

Good point and definitely a mistake I could/would make,
but this time I double/triple checked and . . .
well I can hardly believe what I saw . . .

Just now running in Debug after removing SORTA and
the array ASCEND . . .

Is this one of those deals where the array is defined as some huge number to
only use a few elements? When you do the sort the blanks will be in the low
order. Any chance you are looking at in debug and only see the first few
which are blank?
