Man, it's been forever since I dealt with edit-in-place subfiles!
OK, I've dug through the DDS docs and rummaged through Google hits - no
good answer yet.
I have a couple fields in a subfile record that I want to validate -
let's say one has a RANGE or VALUES. I know I'm not supposed to use
ERRMSG or ERRMSGID on a subfile field.
But I found nothing that said I couldn't put CHKMSGID in a subfile
record - I had done it on a regular record, and it works fine.
I don't remember if I put it in the SFL or the SFLCTL record - what I'm
getting is only a period on the message line. I'm using the CPF9898
message and specifiying a program-to-system variable.
OK, so the other scenario is one where I validate a numeric that is a
date - this is old code, folks! I assume SFLMSG or SFLMSGID is the way
to go, and I see that I have to manage RI and PC. Exercise for tomorrow.
Main question is the CHKMSGID in the context of a subfile.
Thx
Vern
