I think pcre is properly installed because the pcregrep command works on QSH.
I just don't know how to call grep functions from an ILE program throw pase api, and do a regex replace.

Did you get all the dependencies?

According to this page:
http://www.perzl.org/aix/index.php?n=Main.Pcre

PCRE requires:
Bzip2
Readline
Zlib

There may dependencies of dependences and the list may get long.
Readline needs info
Info needs bash and gettext
Etc.
