It is normal when using STRSQL, which is stabilized and was not enhanced
since release V4R5.
If you want to see the content of an XML (or and other Large Object Column,
data types CLOB, DBCLOB, BLOB) just run your SQL Statement through the IBM i
Database - Run an SQL Scripting interface.

Betreff: XML Field in DB2 table
I took some time to play around with the xml field type today, but I'm
seeing someting a little strange.
To keep things simple, I created a simple table (two fields - primary key as
int and an xml field) and inserted a record.
It parsed it find, no troubles...
When I do a select statement, the xml field comes back with *pointer is
that normal? Or did I do something wrong?
