I coded up an RPG III test and tried it, and Trevor is right. It appears that when it passes a MODS as a parameter, it always passes the address of the first occurrence.

IMHO, that's weird behavior. But, that's what it does.

Do the same thing you did to the programs. Convert both to RPG IV? Test.
Does the same thing If not, you know you have a problem with the compiler.
If it works something else going on.
