After getting the merged cells to work (thanks Scott), i added a style
to place border around new merged cell as follows:
headstyle1 = HSSFWorkbook_createCellStyle( HSSFWorkbook );
numfmt = 22;
HSSFCellStyle_setFillForegroundColor(headstyle1: numfmt);
HSSFCellStyle_setFillPattern(headstyle1 : PATTERN_1);
currentFont = HSSFWorkbook_createFont( HSSFWorkbook );
HSSFFont_setBoldweight(currentfont:BOLDWEIGHT_BOLD);
HSSFCellStyle_setFont(headStyle1:currentFont);
HSSFCellStyle_setAlignment( headStyle1: ALIGN_center);
HSSFCellStyle_setBordertop(headStyle1 :border_thin);
HSSFCellStyle_setBorderleft(headStyle1 :border_thin);
HSSFCellStyle_setBorderright(headStyle1 :border_thin);
HSSFCellStyle_setBorderBottom(headStyle1 :border_thin);
When i look at sheet, only the first cell of the merged cells is bordered...
