Jim,
Reminds me of the Relational Database Directory entries I needed to make to
allow us to read-write MS Sql Server data from our iSeries. The command is
ADDRDBDIRE (Add RDB Directory Entry).
One good open-source solution is ARDGATE.
Once installed and configured we were able to use STRSQL, QM Query, and
embedded SQL to read-write to the remote DB.
HTH.

Subject: Service account
I need to create a "service account" on the iSeries. Did some Google searches, I am starting to think service account is the wrong terminology on the iSeries.
So to be clear, this account would be used in a connection string on a program on a non-iSeries box.
The account has to be able to read/write/update records and execute stored procedures on the iSeries.
I could just create a normal user profile, but I remember reading for security reason you should not for this type of account.
Help, what is the right way?
