FWiW, a problem documented with a similar symptom with its
occurrence only after many repeated calls to the JAVA code, was
eliminated by correcting the Java code to "properly free character
array objects". Thus a good possibility in the above failure is also
that the Java code being invoked, has a similar issue with improperly
freeing storage.?
The APAR search on "msgMCH74A0 OR MCH74A0" yields only three results.
All are prior to v6r1; two are effective duplicates, one providing a
PTF in one release and the other for two other v5 releases... for
something specific to the OS, not user-java.
However, the effectively duplicated OS-specific APARs provide an
interesting comment which could assist one to determine if the origin of
their own issue is something similar; i.e. "Using DMPJVM before" the
failing invocation "shows that a huge number (500,000+) of character
array objects ([C) exist in the Java heap and are never garbage collected."
