Do I hear someone calling out APL? Yeah, often called a "write-only"
language!
Back when I was in high school, we had a couple of multiplex modems on
leased lines to the district's student timeshare system (a 370/135
running McGill University's MUSIC operating system). We had up to a
dozen terminals (a motley all-ASCII collection that included DECWriters,
Lear ADM-1s, Datamedia Elites, and so forth).
One of the terminals (a thermal printing terminal with a built-in
acoustic coupler modem; we called it "The Hotbox") had an APL keyboard,
and a switch on the front panel to select the APL character set.
And remember what APL stands for: "A Programming Language."
