Jeff - These articles by Jon Paris might help:

Part 1: http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/ibmi/developer/rpg/How-Flexible-are-Your-Calculations-/

Part 2: http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/ibmi/developer/rpg/Even-More-Flexible-Calculations/

"RPG programming on the IBM i \(AS/400 and iSeries\)" <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> writes:
I have a file with the following fields: Condition, Value, Override
The condition can be : LT, LE,EQ,GT,GE
I will be testing a field to determine if the contents meet the condition.
If so, then the override applies.
Other than hard coding each of the conditions in a select group and then
doing the appropriate test, is there a simpler method that I am missing?

Thanks,
