I remember Lattice RPG - never did catch on though. I cut my teeth on the
Lattice C compiler many moons ago. It used to be the gold standard for C
compilers as I recall.

If the intent is to keep your hand in the RPG world, you're probably better
served by one of the free or low-cost online services. At least, that's
what I've done since being laid off last year. Probably not an option when
you needed it, Jerry.

On the other hand, the ability to deploy on a PC is interesting. Looks like
a text based interface though. ODBC connectivity is a plus.

Vern.... Where did you see the $50 price? It's listed at $149 for the
personal edition.

If it's the same product I installed some years ago, that part
(installation) at least didn't take that long. Unfortunately, Vern is like
I was then; he's got time.

But, of course, your point, I think, was that he was trying to get
referrals. Since I never actually used it to develop apps (even assuming
it's the same vendor - different level), I can't really do that. But at
least it's an RPG IV variant, not the RPG/400 variant I used. This one even
has a /36 component, but it, also, has some op-codes that are unique to it
so one would need to be careful if wanting to push the code to a real System
i.

For the price what's there to lose?

Vern,

The name sounds like something that I downloaded years ago, except
that it only did RPG/400 back then. I never got very far with that
version.

On the downside this seems to be back at about V5 and does not appear
to use /free. On the upside it seems to use a lot of built-in
functions (though common ones, like %found, are still under
development.

The interest I had back then was twofold: (1) to keep my hand in as I
was unemployed then, and (2) maybe to develop apps for PCs with a
language with which I was familiar. Got a job soon afterwards so
never got around to doing much with it, though.

For the price what's there to lose?

Y'all

Just ran across a reference to WINRPG in the wiki article Dieter cited
in another thread. Anyone seen it? Tried it?

It's still alive, apparently, maintained by a certain Steve Curless.
Product seems to have come from something called Lattice RPG.

Here's the link - http://www.winrpg-programmers.com/ - intriguing. 50
bucks for single user, multi-user licensing available.

Interesting? I don't know - IT Jungle had an article on it in 2010. It
seems there might be look and feel customization possible, default
isn't necessarily all that pretty, but I've barely looked at screen
shots.

OK, back to other things!
