More times than I want to remember! Once spent the whole night getting the
card deck back in order (batch controls, you know). I wanted to smack the
@#$% out of the operator - but I was the one who dropped the deck (sigh).

First, it might help to either include the whole message or ataccess
least to <snip> the relevant portions to which a reply is made.
On the S/3 F1 and F2 did not refer to function keys but, rather,
disk
units:
Fixed 1 (where the operating system (SCP) resided). It took a CE
to
the fixed drives.drives,
R1 and R2 were Removable drives (5444). They, as well as the
Fixed
had a whopping 5 Mb IIRC.(I
D1-D4 were "high capacity" drives. The 5445's looked like cake
layers, had, I think, a 10 mb capacity, and 5-6 heads, which moved
in unison. Later
forget the model number) the 5445's were replaced by a really highcapacity
drive that reminded me, when in silhouette, of the Starship
entireThe
Dx drives were removable (swappable).
The SCP didn't, however, check the swaps very well (if at all).
We had four drives. One database was so large (for the time) that
it took one
swappeddisk, a second disk to hold the db+added records, a third drive tothe
hold
sorted file (Addrout). Had an operator get ahead of himself and
dayoutand
one of the drives too early (before prompted). The OS didn't
detect it
the resulting report was a mess. Took my boss and me the rest of
the
thanto
figure out what happened.
Now, wanna talk about something really fun? 1403 N1.

The value of history is not scientific but moral. By liberalizing
the mind, by deepening the sympathies, by fortifying the will,
history enables to control not society, but ourselves - a much

F1, F2, etc, was used for function keys one, function key 2, etc.
But
inR2, and then D1?? What do they mean? I do not recall even seeing
them
(RPG400-L)manuals. Matching records were in the manuals but I never usedany
them in
programs.
Thank you,
Nancy
