More times than I want to remember! Once spent the whole night getting the
card deck back in order (batch controls, you know). I wanted to smack the
@#$% out of the operator - but I was the one who dropped the deck (sigh).

On the S/3 F1 and F2 did not refer to function keys but, rather,
disk
units:
Fixed 1 (where the operating system (SCP) resided). It took a CE
to

R1 and R2 were Removable drives (5444). They, as well as the

D1-D4 were "high capacity" drives. The 5445's looked like cake

We had four drives. One database was so large (for the time) that
it took one

entire

disk, a second disk to hold the db+added records, a third drive to
hold

the

sorted file (Addrout). Had an operator get ahead of himself and

swapped

out
one of the drives too early (before prompted). The OS didn't
detect it

and

the resulting report was a mess. Took my boss and me the rest of
the

day

to
figure out what happened.

Now, wanna talk about something really fun? 1403 N1.

R2, and then D1?? What do they mean? I do not recall even seeing

manuals. Matching records were in the manuals but I never used
