Okay, I've got one for you. Back in the day (as we say) there were no hot
sites for disaster recovery so shops had reciprocal agreements with
like-configured shops. My boss and I went to visit ours. Five stories, no
elevators, computer (S/3 Mod 15) on the 5th floor. At each landing my boss
and I, both > 6', had to duck. Got to the 5th floor and there was this HUGE
data center.
Anyway, after doing all of the necessary paperwork (i.e., bureaucracy), the
site's D/P manager smiled, looked at us, and said, "I bet you're wondering
how we got it up here. Aren't you?" We nodded in agreement. "Well," he
said, "that brick wall didn't used to be there. We knocked it out, hoisted
it (the 15D, that is) on a crane, and re-bricked the wall."
Now THAT is thinking outside of the box!
