However, in the code I'm dealing with, it needs to be function in this
manner:

%subarr(*in:30:3) = '010';

Which the compiler -still- does not like (I apologize for the previous
overly-simplistic example). Unfortunately, when trying to navigate to Jon's
article, Chrome crashes with a Reader Subscription error!!!

BTW, let's say that such use of indicator(s) processing is mainly to - keep
the peace!

In which case use the DS technique that I described in the article that was referenced earlier in this thread.

i.e.

D pinds S * Inz(%Addr(*IN))
D dspInds DS Based(pinds)
...
// Subfile Indicators
D subfInds_25_28 Overlay(dspInds: 25)
D sflInz_25 n Overlay(subfInds)
D sflClear_26 n Overlay(subfInds: *Next)
D sflEmpty_27 n Overlay(subfInds: *Next)
D sflMore_28 n Overlay(subfInds: *Next)

D patternRequired C '0010'

Note in this version uses the naming technique I now teach for these things and include the indicator number in the name. Makes the correlation with DDS easier and stops the dinosaurs from roaring that they don't know what indicator numbers are being used when they are forced to use a meaningful name.
