How come when I debug my program and I type in
EVAL FILESTATS.ST_OBJTYPE
I see
FILESTATS.ST_OBJTYPE = '*STMF ?'
and
EVAL FILESTATS.ST_OBJTYPE :x
shows me
EVAL FILESTATS.ST_OBJTYPE :x
00000 5CE2E3D4 C6404040 404000.. ........ - *STMF

But EVAL FILESTATS shows me:
FILESTATS.ST_MODE = 33256
FILESTATS.ST_INO = 1414328
FILESTATS.ST_NLINK = 1
FILESTATS.ST_RESERVED2 = 0
FILESTATS.ST_UID = 525
FILESTATS.ST_GID = 0
FILESTATS.ST_SIZE = 933726
FILESTATS.ST_ATIME = 1316181638
FILESTATS.ST_MTIME = 1316181638
FILESTATS.ST_CTIME = 1319574746
FILESTATS.ST_DEV = 2151677953
FILESTATS.ST_BLKSIZE = 32768
FILESTATS.ST_ALLOCSIZE = 1048576
FILESTATS.ST_OBJTYPE = '*STMF '
FILESTATS.ST_RESERVED3 = ' '
FILESTATS.ST_CODEPAGE = 819
FILESTATS.ST_CCSID = 819
FILESTATS.ST_RDEV = 0
FILESTATS.ST_NLINK32 = 1
FILESTATS.ST_RDEV64 = 0
FILESTATS.ST_DEV64 = 141012366262273
FILESTATS.ST_RESERVED1 = ' ■
FILESTATS.ST_INO_GEN_ID = 2351673289

The reason that I am asking is because it's failing this:
when (filestats.st_objtype<>'*DIR') and
(filestats.st_objtype<>'*STMF');
// only interested in directories and stream files.
