If it's supposed to act like the *LDA, then the suggestion of a named 
data area in a common library sounds like the ticket.

I like user spaces though and where I've been, I've done user space 
service program with procedures that wrap the API's to simplify them. A 
user space can do anything a data area can do  only more of it, except 
the data areas are simpler...
