You need to use your emulators HELP key with the cursor on the message
line. With Mocha my default is Ctrl+Shift+F1. Unless you train your
users that they can get extra help, the second level will be used only
by programming staff.

Subject: Second-Level Message Text

I use a message subfile in my interactive programs to, usually,
communicate
to the client when there is an error, such as "The customer does not
exist."
The messages are in our own message file: ANKMSGS in this case.

I've never used the second-level message text before, but this time for
one
of them I did. But the only message displayed at the bottom of the
panel is
the first-level message text. Pressing F1 doesn't do anything for me.
Is
there any way to display the second-level message text?
