Guys, this part of the thread should probably be moved over to the EGL list (http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/egl-i).

While I'll of course acquiesce to your decision, I think that removing EGL from RPG discussion does a disservice to both EGL and RPG. The future of RPG is going to include a UI, and it's not going to be written in RPG. It may be PHP or Java or heaven help us .NET, but it won't be pure RPG. It will require JavaScript and it will require a way to generate that JavaScript, whether it's one of the languages above, or a scripting tool like powerEXT or a 4GL like EGL. But to deny that these tools are part and parcel of the future of RPG is to avoid the obvious.

Unless ALL discussion that even include the word "web", "browser" or "mobile" all go to Web400-L. At which point, you should probably automatically move every thread about the future of RPG there as well, because there is no future for RPG (or the platform in general) that doesn't include the web.

Just my .02

Joe

P.S. I've never really understood the creation of the EGL list; it seems to rather arbitrarily cut off EGL from the discussions where it makes the most sense, whether it's modernization, integration or web development.
