Hi Jeff,
I'm not sure that I understand why it matters to you which language the
driver is written in? Surely you aren't going to be reading the code of
the database driver, or making changes to it?
Having said that, I don't know of any drivers written in C for SQL
server. (Though, there may be a commercial one, I haven't really
looked.) And I've never heard of someone writing a database driver in
RPG or Cobol for any platform.
You say "PHP is not an option as this will be a batch program". PHP can
be used in batch programs (though, that certainly wouldn't be as easy or
intuitive as an RPG/Java solution.) So, if PHP on IBM i supports SQL
Server (I have no idea if it does or not) then it might also be an
option for you.

All,
I have searched the archived on this and found that someone had already
asked this question, but did not see any responses other than use JAVA and
JDBC or use a comercial solution.
I have no JAVA experience, and a comercial solution is not desired.
PHP is not an option as this will be a batch program.
Has anyone done this using RPG& SQL?
Thanks,
