First Data Global Gateway Web Service API

Anyone out there using this service to process credit cards?

Their documentation appears to be in the category of "voluminous but fundamentally useless". The example code is even worse - the PHP samples for example for the new web service that was not available until (I think) early 2011 appear to have been written in 2006 and don't use PHP's SOAP APIs - so I don't think they are even the right ones. Not having much luck with support so I'm hoping that someone here is using them and can point me in the right direction.

Hoping that someone has used this service with RPG (or failing that PHP or Java for that matter).
