I know about the date fields... but coding standards. :-(

I think it has to do with the screen fields are somehow turned into an int. IsValidData only checks for a valid date.

P IsValidData B
D IsValidData PI N

D isValid S N
D dateTest S D

/free

isValid = true;

monitor;
dateTest = %date(%char(DFromDate):*iso0);
on-error;
isValid = false;
endmon;

monitor;
dateTest = %date(%char(DToDate):*iso0);
on-error;
isValid = false;
endmon;

return isValid;

/end-free
P IsValidData E

Once I created "temp" fields defined like the prototype and copied the data into them, it all works.

Would this work better if the two screen fields were defined as date
fields?

Type L, not zoned decimal.

Do I need to know what is in ISVALIDDATA to answer this issue definitively?

(Just as an aside, a benefit of using date fields is that date
validation is done for you.

I have a screen with two 8,0 decimal fields. My prototype takes the same two field types. See DFROMDATE and DTODATE and the two parameters in the screenshot here (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2732434/2011-12-14-2126_screenshot.png). However, when I compile it, I get the error "RNF7535 The type and attributes of parameter 1 do not match those of the prototype." for both fields.

What am I missing?

dow (not isValid);

exfmt SCRN01;

if (F3 or F12);
leave;
endif;

if (IsValidData());
RunReport(DFromDate:DToDate);
endif;

enddo;

I feel like it is something stupid, I just don't see it.
