RPG400 has not seen any development, and has been deprecated for more
than 15 years. (By contrast, it was actively developed and recommended
for a total of only 6 years.) Computers have changed a lot in that time,
and RPG/400 has not changed with them.
I don't think anyone here actively told him to change his technology,
but rather they asked for more information as to why he's using this
extremely outdated technology. I don't think that's unreasonable.
Sure, people still have to maintain legacy systems that use outdated
technologies, so it's something that will come up occasionally. But
when someone seems to be learning it at the 101 level, it's going to
raise eyebrows.
