John,
I eliminated the blank lines in the body of my comments, ran it through SDA and all of my comments survived. Standards vary from client to client for documentation protocols. Some don't have any comments and I try to provide them for the benefit of the next programmer.

The clue was in your question - "/many /of my comments vanish".
I copied your comments into a test dds and passsed it through SDA.
SDA ignored the comments after the first BLANK line, i.e. no comments after the *in77 comment were retained.
