Ah, good to know. I never use STRPCCMD, prefer RUNRMTCMD, and we also have a product that I use instead for running things on the PC.

But, as another post says, there seems to be some kind of permission involved, too. Too many assumptions for my comfort.

Especially since, in my case, I have a couple nice APIs to keep me warm!

Thanks
Vern

Vern,

Support for the client side of STRPPCCMD is built into the
emulator...nothing to install, turn on or start. Unlike RUNRMTCMD.

Even non-IBM emulators can/could have it. I know Powerterm does...

Thx, Scott

That's cool. But it won't help for us - I can't make the assumption that
support for STRPCCMD is in place, or that certain file shares are there.

But I believe I have an answer using EIM APIs - am working an adding SSO
to some of our stuff.

No, it's just this:

STRPCCMD PCCMD('CMD /C ECHO %USERNAME%>
\\mynetserver\MYSHARE\MYFILE.TXT') PAUSE(*NO)

Then read the contents of MYFILE.TXT to find out the username.

I don't have a Pro/VIP subscription, so can't see the article - does it
involve a program you call on the PC? I'm not sure that would fly for
our situation.

Thanks
