Btw, i was not getting on Mihael case.Just adviced him to give it up.If you want to be happy, concentrate on things you *can* change. If i see a developer using SEU and he is happy with it i'm NOT going to try to educate. And yes, i am (was) quite frustrated.Things were much worse (for me) in the 90's, where the problems where the same, but not many options besides SEU and RPGIII,and everybody seemed to be quite pleased with the development tools, and everything global, non-modular, etc.Things are different now, but also that the platform is decimated. And i have still more than 20 years to go before retirement. But, like Mihael, i'm not planning to stay that long on this platform. So i say to Mihael, good for you, not good for this community.
Cheers!

Hey, Mihael is one of the good guys. Don't get on HIS case because
you're frustrated with developers that don't want to change.

To me, the problem isn't with which editor you use... the problem is
that certain people don't want/need/try to improve themselves. To me,
life is a series of constant improvement. Every project I do, heck
every THING I do, I try to figure out what I did well, and what I should
try to improve upon next time. There's always room for improvement, and
I never stop trying. Furthermore, I never stop looking for new ways to
improve myself and my skills.

So, it's not really about which editor you write your code with. It's
about trying things and looking for improvements.

Code might be easier to read in RDP than it is in SEU, due to
colorization, outline view, etc. Great! Then, use that, it'll improve
your productivity and therefore is an improvement.

But that improvement needs to be everywhere. It needs to be in the way
you design your database, it needs to be in the way you write your code,
the way you architect your code for reusability and maintenance, the way
you design your screens/reports, the technology that you're willing to
use for your user interfaces.... it's many things, not just the editor.
In fact, it's everything you do.

Anyone who is still using SEU, really, REALLY does NOT want to learn, anything...

I gave it up already.I don't try to convince my fellow i "programmers" anymore with reason and arguments. It's simply too frustrating, and even dangerous at some times (yes really),as some can become really emotional about it.
I have lots of knowledge and experience outside of "i", such as Java, Web, etc.Not to mention ILE and /free RPG.
I see my "i" experience as a nice "niche".It's only downhill and nothing to expected anymore from this platform (as it was 10 years ago aready).I'm amazed about the inertia surrounding AS/400, or "i", whatever. All thanks to those spaghetti programmers (can't rip modules out, only replace it all).
The platform is declining, and as a freelance developer, with extensive RPG experience anda lot of other knowledge, i foresee that as long as the platform is not gone (lets say atleast 10 years), i can earn a decent salary.
Anyhow, i don't have much competition in this market. And many in this list either.
