The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Hi Tom
Sorry I didn't catch what you were asking. Anyhow, performance of OA is
almost completely dependent on what the handler does, hence, the handler
creator has to speak to that. I have seen a little delay with the one
I've written, but I don't attribute it to the runtime OA component yet,
because there is network connectivity and stuff happening at a remote
server, as well as at a remote database.
The RPG runtime does have to resolve to a procedure in a service program
or a program. I'd see this as the same as resolving any dynamic call, so
it won't be the main issue.
I hope this gives you some idea of how OA works - its own performance
(the RPG runtime, that is) will be just about as regular RPG is. There
is probably a little overhead when populating the name-value arrays for
each format and for keys. I might sometime take timestamps to see what
the time is, I suspect it is very efficiently done, although moving data
takes time, no matter what. The structures are not the same as the input
or output buffers, so some data movement has to occur.
Of course, I'm guessing about some of this - nothing is handed down to
me from on high in Toronto!

and how it performed.
Thanks.
