Sorry James - no can do. SEU is old technology and was even back in 2003 when I wrote that piece. If copy and paste were the only issue it might have been worth my while trying to get paste to work without it running all over the sequence number area - but it isn't and I didn't.

As to your other point. From/To was deprecated in RPG IV for many reasons - the two which stand out for me are that From/To is error prone, and in the case of packed fields requires calculation. And the second is that you have remember to make changes every time a field definition changes. By using only the name and not defining the length you avoid both of those issues.

The article describes a technique which has worked well for me over the years and from the mail I have received on the topic for many others.
