One of the big issues with S versus Y is decimal points. If it's
field with zero decimal positions, then there isn't much problem.

If there are decimal positions, with Y you have key the decimal point,
otherwise all digits are considered to be to the left of the decimal
point. With S, the decimal point cannot be keyed and is implied.

So for a field that is US Dollars, with two decimal places, if you key
100 in a Y field, it's 100.00 dollars. If you key 100 in an S field,
it's 1.00 dollars.
