Yeah, I never got that either. I've never used ELSEIF, in either RPG or its
CL equivalent (although I can see that the CL version does have some
benefits).
All I want now is to have a parameter to the SELECT statement, which can be
used in conjunction with each of the WHEN statements to equate to a boolean
true or false:
SELECT Customer.Type;
WHEN 'A';
...
WHEN 'B' or 'C' or 'D';
...
WHEN 'E' or 'F';
...
OTHER;
...
ENDSL;
which is much nicer (IMHO) than:
SELECT;
WHEN Customer.Type = 'A';
...
WHEN Customer.Type = 'B' or
Customer.Type = 'C' or
Customer.type = 'D';
...
WHEN Customer.Type = 'E' or
Customer.Type = 'F';
...
OTHER;
...
ENDSL;

Do you mean ElseIf?
I've never understood why they added ElseIf to the language. (Gee, I
really wanted my IF statement to be identical to a WHEN statement...
That way I can have WHEN without having to use my 'W' key. Thanks IBM!)
