Hi Gary,

<snip>
Ok, I know everyone is going to cringe on this one.
I'm having trouble converting from RPGLE free to fixed format with this statement:
</snip>

You can add 1 to the cringe count. But I do feel your pain. Back in the last century I had to convert a lot of RPG IV code back to RPG/400 code for a project I was working on - we didn't support RPG IV at that point.

I hadn't seen RPG IV before and we had to buy a book so I could understand what the D-specs were all about! It was an interesting way to learn the language. I loved RPG IV and hated pulling it to pieces.

Anyway, the key to success for your regressive conversion is to find a language half-way between your free-form version and your fixed-form version to help you transition. I'd suggest Aramaic or possibly Ancient Hebrew. :-)
Cheers, and have fun!
