Another option you may not have thought of....

There are existing ways to transform XML to PDF or postscript.  I
believe most often make use of XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language
Transformations).

Most are open source and you may find something in the archives.

This would allow you to print the form from the i in such a way that
it looks like the one printed from the PC.
