List,

According to this link: http://www-03.ibm.com/certify/news/change.shtml

The ILE RPG Certification exam has been retired - as of 22nd January 2010.

However, if I go to http://ibt.prometric.com/ibmtesting they will happily take my $10 for sitting the 972 Assessment Test - without telling me the Certification I am preparing for is now retired.

If I go to prometric.com to try to book the Certification Exam it does not appear in the list and the link above is offered to "Review recent additions and removals to IBM certifications".

Does anybody here know WHY the test has been retired, other than glib answers of the form: "because nobody bothered to take it" :-) ?

I can't seem to understand how it could fade away without hardly any comment - it has now gone for 4 months and I only found out today. RPG may not be dead, but IBM sure are doing a good job at burying the body! We no longer qualify for Specialist Certification, but you can be a specialist in any other Rational, Tivoli or Lotus product. There is plenty for the Java and SQL crowd too. Anybody fancy IBM Information Management pureXML Technical Mastery? It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad and so predictable.

It almost feels like we'd be lucky in a few years if we could get an i OS emulation running on our PC along with Commodore 64 and Atari.

Just had to clear my throat! Gah!!!

Feel better now :-)

Cheers

Larry Ducie
